Greetings from Gayleen

– January 2023

Welcome to 2023. I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year catching up with family and friends and enjoying a well-earned break after a busy year and had some good fun in the widespread rain.

Often January is considered a quite time of the year for business however, not this year! We have hit the ground running with a positive employment market and lots of job opportunities across a wide scope of industries, skills and professions in demand.

With international borders open and restrictions lifted, free travel between many countries has resulted in strong tourism numbers and growing international visitors. This is great news to help our economy to recover and grow.

Students are returning including the large numbers from the Chinese market. Chinese students are required to return to in-class, face to face lessons from next semester as online degrees will no longer be recognised by their government. This requirement has come more quickly than was anticipated and there is now a huge demand to process student visas and to find accommodation for them. Travel and finding flights are also proving a problem for this volume of students to overcome.

Accommodation is still a major issue for not only students, but for employers and potential employees seeking to relocate for job opportunities. Share house and Air B&B’s are very popular options with houses and apartments challenging to find, rent or buy. It seems everyone has found Queensland and wants to move here; we already know it’s the best state by a long way and the regions are the best of the state.

If you are looking for a new career opportunity many of our regional clients will assist with accommodation which is an excellent incentive to help you make your next move with some great jobs on offer in all professions.
