The Hidden Market

The best candidates aren’t always actively looking.

When it’s time to hire, the obvious place to start is usually with a job ad.

You put the opportunity out there, wait for applications to come in and hopefully find the right person.

But here’s the thing…

Some of the best candidates aren’t looking. They’re already working. They’re good at what they do, they’re valued by their current employer and they’re probably not spending their lunch break scrolling through job boards.

That doesn’t necessarily mean they’re not open to a conversation.

This is where relationships become such an important part of recruitment. At Precruitment we spend a lot of time talking to people who aren’t actively job hunting, getting to know what they do, where they want their career to go and, importantly, what might make them consider something new.

Sometimes it’s career progression. Sometimes it’s flexibility, location, a different workplace culture, or simply, the chance to do something more interesting.

And that’s where understanding our clients matters just as much.

If we know your team, your culture and what you’re trying to achieve, we can recognise when someone in our network might be worth introducing, even if they haven’t applied for the job.

It’s one of the reasons recruitment can’t just be about matching resumes to position descriptions. The right person might never see your advertisement.

Sometimes you have to know who they are, pick up the phone and start a conversation.

One Last Thought

Some of the best candidates aren’t looking for a job, they’re open to the right opportunity.
