Greetings from Gayleen

May 2025

With another election behind us we all look forward to getting back to business as usual. The results were somewhat surprising with such a big win to the Labor party. Election results showed that regional Queenslanders turned out in strong numbers, emphasizing the importance of the rural perspectives in shaping national policies. The mini split with the Liberal and Nationals was the biggest surprise of all. I think it is a good thing the Nationals were standing up for the bush and their values and key policy positions on power and funding for the bush.

The recent interest rate cut has brought a sigh of relief to regional homeowners and small businesses, potentially easing financial pressures and stimulating local economies.

As many regions recover from the floods in the country in Queensland is now benefitting from the event with the towns all open for business, the country is greener than it has been in many years, the waterways are flowing and the wildflowers and birdlife are abundant. The rare filling of Kati Thanda–Lake Eyre has become a beacon for tourists and nature enthusiasts, the pelicans have found their way inland once again, amazing. It is over 10 years since it has been this full. Colin and I are looking forward to beginning our travels throughout West and Regional Queensland to see first-hand the magnificent country and support the outback towns.

There are some great outback events coming up including:

In the stunning landscapes of Paroo Shire, following clues for a chance to win $10,000

Our most remote golf series spans over 1,985 km across Mitchell, Augathella, Blackall, Alpha, Richmond, & Karumba.

  • Our leadership partner Andrea Tunjic has her Essential Leadership Skills Workshop coming up in Cairns. You know how it is – people get promoted because they’re good at their job, then suddenly they’re expected to lead without anyone actually teaching them how. That’s exactly what this workshop tackles.
  • When: Wed 18 & 25 June, 9:30am-3pm. It is a great course and great excuse to come to Cairns at this beautiful time of the year.

I look forward to posting some beautiful photos of our upcoming caravan travels while catching up with some great Precruitment clients and friends.
