Greetings from Gayleen

July 2025

Our travels have continued this past month from meeting our friends in Cunnamulla on the magnificent Warrego River in the very southwest of Queensland, across to South Australia and the Northern Territory. We enjoyed time off in the Barossa and Clare Valley where we experienced some excellent food and wine including a pantry stock up at Maggie Beers Farm.

We continued to Uluru which is such a brilliant ancient land with beautiful scenery on long stretches of remote roads.  We thoroughly enjoyed an incredibly special evening at a Sounds of Silence Dinner under the stars. Our evening was accompanied by an aboriginal artist playing superb Didgeridoo as the sun set over the stunning view of Uluru/Ayers Rock. We utterly enjoyed an astronomer pointing out the planets and constellations with an enlightening story of our universe including just how many light years away the stars were. He noted an interesting fact that there are more stars in the universe than there are grains of sand on earth, staggering fact.

We continued on with a stop at Alice Springs and through Tennant Creek in the Barkly Shire. We loved an overnight stay at Barkly Station which is the most remote roadhouse in Australia. The facilities at the stop are exceptional with great vistas, camping, restaurant and quality live music each night.

We traveled back across the border to Queensland through Mount Isa down to Winton and Longreach before calling in to visit and stay with our friends at Jundah/Windorah in the Barcoo Shire, Quilpie and Thargomindah in the Bulloo Shire. These shires were inundated with flood waters resulting in evacuations, major road and infrastructure damage, thousands of kilometers of fencing and tremendous stock and wildlife losses. Charities including Blaze Aid remain in the regions helping with the rebuild, they do an amazing job if you can help Blaze Aid there is much to be done to get these regions back on track. They really need our continued support in Southwest Queensland and not to be forgotten, including visiting them. As a result of the floods the one positive is that the country is now looking just beautiful. It is so green, and the wildflowers and birdlife are spectacular, and the roads are back in good order for travelling.

Precruitment has many opportunities to work in our great regional and remote communities. Please do not hesitate to contact me or our team if you would like to discuss an exciting career change or take an adventure to live and work in a beautiful part of Australia.
