Greetings from Gayleen

January 2026

Happy New Year for 2026. I hope many of you enjoyed a happy and restful time with family, friends and loved ones over the New Year period.

With severe weather across much of Australia it has been a rocky start for many. The fires in Victoria and the floods in Queensland have been devastating. Our hearts go out to all that have been affected.

Lives have been lost and the wildlife and cattle loss are in the tens of thousands. In NW Queensland alone over 50,000 cattle have been lost and the number continues to grow. Many communities in the NW have had tremendous damage to infrastructure including roads bridges, rail and thousands off kilometres of our farmers fencing have been washed away. Once again, it is our farmers and small communities that have been hit the hardest. Crops have been ruined and food shortages are expected, remember not to be critical of imperfect looking produce and high prices in the supermarkets.

Ever resilient these communities have been buoyed by the community spirit coming together to support each other. Emergency services and volunteers have again rallied and provided amazing assistance under terrible conditions. We thank them as always for their dedication and help in everyone’s hour of need. Remember to put regional Queensland in your travel plans this year, we can support them by visiting them when the wet season is over.

On a positive note, it has been a very busy start to the new year with lots of great candidates looking for new career opportunities. Their expertise is across a broad spectrum of industries from both Government and Commercial sectors, professions and skill sets. To compliment this move of talent there are lots of exciting career opportunities with many of our fabulous clients.

Don’t hesitate to contact our team if we can help you with anything at all or just for employment/market advice or to help with your strategic staff planning.

I hope the rest of 2026 brings us all peace, good health, happiness and a prosperous year.

Thank you for your continued support.
