Greetings from Gayleen

May 2026

As we move toward the end of another financial year many businesses across Regional Queensland are carefully reviewing budgets, staffing requirements and future workforce planning. While there is still some caution in the market due to ongoing cost of living pressures and business expenses, we are continuing to see steady recruitment activity across local government, infrastructure, health, community services and professional services sectors.

One of the biggest topics currently being discussed throughout the recruitment industry is the rapid growth of AI and automation in workplaces. While technology is certainly changing the way businesses recruit and operate, we still believe people, relationships and genuine communication remain at the heart of successful recruitment. Employers continue to place great importance on cultural fit, practical experience, reliability and interpersonal skills when selecting staff.

This month Colin and I are once again preparing to begin our annual travels throughout Western and Regional Queensland. We always look forward to catching up with clients, councils, candidates and friends throughout the bush and seeing firsthand what is happening across the regions. There is something very special about travelling through Outback Queensland during the cooler months and we are looking forward to supporting the small towns and communities along the way.

There are some wonderful regional events coming up over the next few months which continue to showcase the character and spirit of the outback. Events such as the Vision Splendid Outback Film Festival (Winton) and many local agricultural shows and community events make an enormous contribution to regional tourism and local businesses while bringing communities together.

Before leaving we also enjoyed spending time assisting job seekers and candidates preparing for new opportunities and career changes. It is always rewarding to see people build confidence throughout the recruitment process, whether they are entering the workforce for the first time, returning to work or taking the next step in their careers.

We are currently working with excellent candidates across a wide range of skill sets who are seeking new opportunities throughout Regional Queensland. Please do not hesitate to contact our team if we can assist you with a new staff member or a new career opportunity.

As always, we sincerely appreciate the continued support of our clients, candidates and temporary employees and we look forward to sharing some photos and stories from our travels over the coming months.
