Greetings from Gayleen

March 2025

March has been wet. Once again, our roads across regional Queensland have been cut off and supplies are again scarce. More severe flooding has hit north Queensland and has now spread across southwest Queensland with record rainfall events. The rain was welcome in many areas, some had seen no, or very little rain this wet season. Channel Country rivers including the Diamantina, Georgina, Bulloo and Coopers Creek which all feed in into Lake Eyre are having great rains. There is now expected to be a large loss of stock, wildlife and infrastructure in the Quilpie region who have seen more rain than in years over recent days. Central West Queensland has also seen some big rainfall.

Late Autumn and Winter will be a wonderful time to explore outback Queensland, the country will be looking amazing. I can just imagine the filled waterways, amazing birdlife, green pastures and wildflowers that will be in abundance. I travel to these regions every year and I am excited to be currently planning our next adventure in this wonderful landscape and to all the welcoming townships and country people.

I was in Brisbane as cyclone Alfred was heading to the coast. It was interesting to see the reaction and attention of the media and politicians. There were immediate offers for financial and defence assistance that we sadly do not see in regional Queensland for far more devasting weather events. Make your vote count.

Tourism and the economy in many parts of regional Queensland has been dramatically affected by weather events. There are some great activities coming up to support:

  • Alpha Rodeo, April 18 one of my favorite memories was a stockman riding his horse down the main street in all his cowboy gear as you do, such a great little town
  • Winton 150 Year Celebration, April 11-13 just love Winton so much to see and do
  • Julia Creek DirtnDust Festival, April 11 -13, rodeo, music and too much fun

We are excited to partner with specialist leadership coach Andrea Tunjic who will provide valuable articles and sensible tips each month in our newsletter. We have had a long association with Andrea. We know she is practical, personable and has great expertise www.andreatunjic.com.au

We have some excellent career and job opportunities throughout Queensland with some great clients. If you are up for an adventure or change in scenery either for the long or the short term, do not hesitate to contact one of our great team members for a chat. From my vast travels I will be able to answer most any question you have about any town/region in Queensland before you make or plan your move. We are all happy to help.
