You may recall Colin and I travelled over 9000 Kilometres across 32 shires in July and August to visit some of our regional clients. It was great trip and we have put together a little video of our travels showcasing some of the beautiful and diverse country and communities in regional Queensland.

It was a perfect start to the month with a motivating presentation at a Chamber function from our Townsville grown entrepreneur and self-made billionaire, Luke Anear CEO and Founder of Safetyculture. What a great guy and great story of perseverance.  Check out his podcast “Building a Unicorn”. What a nice, down-to-earth, and inspiring person he is.

I also attended a Chamber presentation by Keith Sue the Innovation Facilitator from the $30m JCU Ideas Lab which has been developed to help drive economic develop in regional Queensland by linking industry, early stage ventures, researchers and skilled graduates to explore ideas and innovate for success. This amazing centre is an opportunity for our region to develop some of our best and most innovative ideas in collaboration with some brilliant minds.

We had our first post Covid Workforce North (WFN) meeting. WFN is a partnership of the Employment Sector Training Organisations and some major employers from across our region. We were delighted to hear that Tamilyn Brennan has been funded in the role of Employment Facilitator for two years in our region. We have also secured funds for our region to support projects for local solutions to help our labour markets. A taskforce will be charged with creating an Employment Plan to project and identify developments for local recovery.

We celebrated 7 years working with Colleen this month.  Colleen is our Accounts and Admin Manager and I am sure many of you have had the pleasure to interact with her over the years. She has been an amazing support to me and team in all these years. Colleen is always upbeat, positive and nothing is ever too much trouble, no matter how busy she is.   Thank you, Colleen, from all the team and all our clients, candidates and suppliers that work with you.

September was the birthday month for us celebrating Virgos, Gemma, Olivia and me. Lots of cake and bubbles to be had, as it should be.
