Border Updates, Precruitment’s Family Sponsor with the Salvation Army and Welcomes & Farewells
So close to those borders opening. That will be our best Christmas gift this year. Thanks goodness some sense prevailed around the cost of the testing requirements at 80% vax which will really help with affordable travel for families and visitors. Everyone is excited to get those tourism numbers up and the opportunity for businesses recovering across regional Queensland. Great work Tricia O’Neill CEO Cairns Chamber, who pointed out in a recent ‘pro-choice’ rally that we only have 15 ICU beds in Cairns and 2 on the Cape with a similar picture throughout regional Queensland. That made everyone sit up and take notice. Much of the business community still await further guidance from the Government on vaccination mandates, currently everyone is pretty confused about what they can and can’t do. With candidate shortages being experienced in almost every sector, we hope lifting of border restrictions will ease some of the skill shortage pressure.
Every year for the past 24 years of operation Precruitment has sponsored a family at Christmas through the Salvation Army. The team all donate a shopping list of food goodies as well as gifts to a family in need. Over the years, some of our former staff and clients have also chosen to donate items. If you would like to be involved, please drop any food items or a small gift, unwrapped, into our office at 152 Grafton Street Cairns. If we have extras it can support towards another family.
At Precruitment we have had some change with Olivia returning to Canada after 3 years with us. We will really miss Oli and thank her for her outstanding service to Precruitment and all our clients. We congratulate her husband, Sunny on his graduation from JCU Dentistry.
We welcome Deb to our team. Deb will be working closely with the team supporting in accounts and administration. She looks forward to meeting and assisting our clients and candidates and I am sure you will all make her welcome.
This month we say a happy retirement to a great CEO and friend to Precruitment, Bernie McCarthy. Bernie retires after nine years with Aurukun Shire Council and an amazing 50 years in Local Government. Bernie has been awarded with a Public Service Medal for his service. He has achieved much for the local community in Aurukun, and he has always been a strong supporter of our business. He has provided us with invaluable advice and partnership over many years. Thank you Bernie, and our very best wishes to you. Please see link to LGAQ Article.
Many thanks for your continued support, I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas.
